The Holter monitor is a type of portable electrocardiogram (ECG). It records the electrical activity of the heart continuously over 24 hours or longer while you are away from the doctor's office. A standard or "resting" ECG is one of the simplest and fastest tests used to evaluate the heart.

Pre-requisites- For male patients chest hair must be shaved up to navel. It is advised to have bath or shower before the procedure starts. All patients must bring their original voter id and previous diagnostic or operative reports & film. Usually, the number of hours that the patient has to wear the device is predetermined by the doctor. Admission is advised for 24 or more hours holter monitoring.
